you could cut ties with all the lies
So Newt Gingrich calls the Palestinians "an invented people" and would be even "tougher" on them than the US is already.

Meanwhile, on December 7, a deadly airstrike hit Gaza, killing one person and wounding two others.

On December 8, Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike. Two died and two were wounded as a drone struck a car.

On December 9, a Palestinian died in an Israeli air raid. Thirteen were wounded, including children, as homes were targeted directly. One of these children has been confirmed dead.

And on December 10, a Palestinian protester died of his wounds. He was struck in the head by a tear gas canister.

These are only the deaths we know about. Many more have been injured and will probably die due to lack of appropriate medical care.

At the same time, Israel has moved toward curbing civil liberties of media and NGOs. These internal reports - often incomplete due to the lack of media and NGO presence to confirm them immediately - from Gaza and Palestine are, at present, the only way for the world to know what is happening there. And even that, apparently, is too much.

Mr. Michel Platini
Union of European Football Associations
Dear Mr. Platini,
The image of UEFA and the European Football Championship which is to be held in Ukraine and Poland in 2012 may suffer irreparable blow due to the scandal developing around ProstoPrint, a popular Ukrainian printing company which applies images on souvenir products and clothes from the clients’ layout originals.
On September 6, 2011, as a result of militia raid against the office of ProstoPrint, the company’s activity was paralyzed, the equipment was seized and criminal proceedings were taken against the employees.  They are accused of illegal application of Euro 2012 logo on the clothing.  It was revealed at once that the militiamen themselves had ordered application of such logo on 50 T-shirts so as to obtain the grounds for suspension of the company’s activity.
When the militia arranged such provocation, they committed a number of gross outrages: search without an order, seizure of property without an order, interrogation of the suspects and examination of the witnesses with the use of physical and psychological pressure (threats of violence).
The militiamen did not have any grounds for such measures against ProstoPrint because it is a customer, the owner of the product, who is liable for observance of incorporeal rights, but not the company which provides printing services.  This is governed both by the Ukrainian laws and by the relevant EU directives.  The employees of ProstoPrint were not even obliged to verify the customer’s right to use the logo of Euro 2012.
The real reason of the “assault” against the company with all this iniquity was not the T-shirts produced through the militia’s provocation but quite another product, very popular T-shirts among Ukrainians with inscriptions including keen criticism at President Yanukovych.
Under the pretext of UEFA’s incorporeal right protection, the nondemocratic Ukrainian powers have unleashed the campaign of illegal persecution of its citizens for political beliefs.  In order to defend our rights and freedoms set forth in the Constitution, we will do our best to draw a wide international response to this scandal.
It is especially outrageous that UEFA patent agents in Ukraine are directly involved in the crime against ProstoPrint as they have already written an application to prosecute the employees of the company criminally on the ground of the gross provocation committed by the militia.
We kindly request you to interfere with this situation personally and to withdraw the application of UEFA patent agents against ProstoPrint due to absence of the formal components of a crime in the company’s actions and in that way to prevent from using UEFA as a tool for political repressions.

7th-Sep-2011 10:00 pm - Salam
Hey everyone! I'm from California and just graduated from college, where I studied journalism and politics. Instead of looking for a job like the rest of my friends, I decided to travel alone to Turkey and Palestine to explore the countries and volunteer for a few months. I just started a blog where I will be talking about the culture and issues and I am having trouble getting followers, if you may be interested in reading about my experiences in Turkey and Palestine and life in general (which I assure you is a joke) I'd really appreciate if you'd follow my blog! I'd in turn follow yours and be an active participant :) Please give me any feedback, I appreciate constructive criticism. I appreciate any type of criticism. Well...I appreciate any attention I get in general but that's a different issue I need to work on.

I hope you don't mind me posting this here, if so I'll be sure to delete my post!
3rd-Aug-2011 02:54 pm - Palestine, 1967 again...
Netanyahu gives way to Obama on 1967 borders

Date: August 03 2011 Adrian Blomfield, London

JERUSALEM: The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has bowed to US pressure by agreeing for the first time that a Palestinian state should roughly follow the contours of the 1967 ceasefire lines separating the West Bank and Israel.

The offer appeared to represent a major climb-down by Mr Netanyahu, who has consistently refused to discuss specific borders of a future state.

A government official in Jerusalem said the offer was dependent on the Palestinians dropping their campaign for statehood at the United Nations next month and accepting Israel as a Jewish state.

Let's just look at that again. The Israeli PM will agree to a Palestinian State as long as the Palestinians give up their claim for statehood.

28th-May-2011 09:27 pm - Egypt reopens Gaza border crossing
Egypt has reopened its Rafah border crossing with Gaza, allowing people to cross freely for the first time in four years.

Among the first to cross the reopened border post were two ambulances ferrying patients from the hitherto-blockaded Gaza Strip for treatment in Egypt as well as a minibus carrying a dozen visitors.

Paper to be part of protest in which 17 Israel Prize winners will participate in front of Independence Hall on Tel Aviv's Rothschild Boulevard.
By Ilan Lior

Dozens of public figures will stage a protest on Thursday at 2 p.m. in front of Independence Hall on Tel Aviv's Rothschild Boulevard, where David Ben-Gurion declared Israel's statehood in May of 1948. Participants, including 17 Israel Prize winners, said they will express support for the declaration of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders.

The protesters also plan to sign their own written declaration to this effect, and will invite members of the general public to join them in signing the document.

"The Jewish people arose in the Land of Israel, where its character was forged. The Palestinian people is rising in Palestine, where its character was forged," the document declares.

"We call on everyone who seeks peace and freedom for all peoples to support the declaration of Palestinian statehood, and to act in a way that encourages the citizens of the two states to maintain peaceful relations on the basis of the 1967 borders... The total end to the occupation is a fundamental precondition for the liberation of the two peoples," the statement continues.

19th-Mar-2011 09:39 pm - Uruguay and Abbas
Two items of good news....

Uruguay recognizes Palestinian state:

Uruguay has made its recognition of a Palestinian state official on Tuesday, following the example of ten other South American countries including Brazil and Argentina, Uruguayan Foreign Minister Luis Almagro said.

Abbas: I won't seek re-election in next Palestinian polls:

On Tuesday, Gaza's prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, had invited Abbas to visit following parallel rallies in Gaza and the West Bank urging the rival Palestinian leaderships to reunite. The next day, the Palestinian leader announced that he would be prepared to make the trip within the coming week.
